When the density of the two liquids is close to equal, it will suddenly and rapidly mix and produce a large amount of gas in a short period of time, so that the pressure in the tank rises sharply, and even top open the safety valve.
To avoid this danger, special treatment should be adopted:

① light LNG is fed from the bottom of the tank, or heavy LNG is fed from the top of the tank, or a combination of both;

② an automatic density meter is installed in the tank to detect the layers of different densities;

③ the liquid is circulated from the bottom to the top with a pump in the tank;

④ the nitrogen content of LNG is kept below 1%, and the gasification rate is closely monitored.
